The series “flowed out” of another series of watercolors: “Lessons in French” and “The Kite.”

There, I first tried, in some parts of the sheet, to “knit” with water and the color of the watercolor. I’ve never really been able to knit, unlike my mom. But I’ve always intuitively felt that this activity is very similar to what I experience when I create graphics. My hands seem to move on their own, and these meditative, repetitive actions bring my thoughts into balance.

I think I wanted to calm myself down and feel the passage of time as I created this piece. For me, this is its visual embodiment. Time is like a knitted fabric — day clings to day, turning into weeks and months. The color flows from yesterday to today, from today to tomorrow.
