KOZIN VLADIMIR (born in 1953) is one of the most paradoxical St. Petersburg artists. In his works he ironically reconsiders the world history of art. Vladimir Kozin is a member of the creative association The Brotherhood of New Blockheads; he is the creator of the Mousetrap of Contemporary Art museum, which is a mobile museum, and the PARAZIT gallery.
Kozin is known for virtually patenting the use of materials such as automotive rubber and plywood in contemporary Russian art. Unsophisticated household materials that seem to be unsuitable for high art in the traditional sense appear to be the basis of his sculptural compositions, objects, and installations. The artist transfers everyday objects from the low to the high, use rubber to create monuments to a teapot, a skate, a razor... This tradition originates in the readymades of Marcel Duchamp, and Kozin repeatedly refers to this artist.
