In 2023 Marina Gisich Gallery is represented by two stands: Gallery and Projects.
The Marina Gisich Gallery booth presented the work of four authors: a new episode of the Human Project series by Kerim Rahimov, an installation created by Alexander and Lisa Tsikarishvili specifically for Cosmoscow, works by Semyon Motolyants, as well as video art by Tanya Akhmetgalieva. Each of the authors works in his own coordinate system, between which, nevertheless, there is a through line — reflection on the process of perception.
Kerim Rahimov's work is the visual and semantic center of the composition. Since 1993, Kerim Rahimov has been creating the Human Project series. Each work is based on a photograph taken from the media. In the next episode, the main character was a Barbie doll from the Fashionistas line. Each work in the series is an attempt to expose media constructs that manipulate public consciousness.
In Tanya Akhmetgalieva's work, vivid images are repeated from work to work, regardless of the medium, and the world appears in a distorted form. Saturated colors, deformation, loss of pixels, electrical failures – this is how the artist talks about the complex relationship of modern man with reality.
"Fractures" can also occur inside a person. Sublimating acute emotions that do not fit into the main vector of artistic practice,
Semyon Motolyants' works are refined and meditatively meticulous. Mitya Mokhnorylov, represented at the Projects stand, on the contrary, works deliberately dirty, trying to recreate images of the otherness of the “wild“ in the perception of the ”civilized".
Alexander and Lisa Tsikarishvili continue the line of deconstruction. Their vintage desk is filled with scraps of the past, artifacts of public and personal memory. The images of Alexander Tsikarishvili's paintings, in which earth as a material is combined with acidic shades of acrylic paints, turn into bright colors of Lisa's embroidery.
Authors of different creative temperaments reflect in one way or another on the ways of perceiving realities today.
The Projects booth represents the PARAZIT Research Institute. The PARAZIT Scientific Research Institute is a classical organization engaged in scientific and artistic activities in the central part of St. Petersburg.
Currently, the organization consists of 67 artists aged from 16 to 72 years. Among them are both honored masters and authors who have only recently started their careers in the field of contemporary art. The PARAZIT Research Institute is divided into departments, each of which has been conducting research in various fields of underground art for many years. During the 23 years of the association's existence, the following results have been achieved: 587 exhibitions have been held, 14,627 works of art have been created, and up to 218 authors have participated in the activities. Uninterrupted work is carried out without snobbery and tiredness.
