THE PROJECT "DOCTORS IN A HUT" BY BORIS KAZAKOV FOR THE MANOR HOUSE OF SUZDAL. 2024

22 september 2024 - 15 december 2024

On September 22, Boris Kazakov's exhibition series "Doctors in a Hut" will open in the Manor House of Suzdal. The curator is Katya Bochavar.

"Doctors in the hut" is a kind of series with familiar characters, which Boris Kazakov has been working on for more than 20 years. Small, almost chamber-like adventures, like in Alice in Wonderland, grow into sagas like The Lord of the Rings, populated by heroes, villains and mystical creatures.

And although modern doctors no longer wear "aibolitki" - white caps with red crosses, and huts on chicken legs have been replaced from children's fairy tales by other images, in the myths and legends of Boris Kazakov these elements are woven into an endless intricate plot, which is woven from the past and the future and embodies the eternal struggle of good and evil. The exhibition features paintings, graphics, objects and performance art. Especially for her, the author turned to a new technique for himself - ceramics. For the first time in his work, we will see the characters of the fairy tale narrative in the 3D version. And we will also hear the voice of the artist himself with funny comments about what is happening between the characters.

"Doctors in the hut" is the second joint project of our museum and the Dymov Ceramics factory in the space of the Posadsky House. We will visit the Infirmary soon with Boris Kazakov (the Marina Gisich gallery in St. Petersburg helped us with this). And in winter we will wait for real miracles from the New Year's exhibition.

Boris Kazakov is an artist from St. Petersburg, animator, screenwriter, and film director. Winner of the diploma of the International Animated and Documentary Film Festival (Oberhausen, Germany, 1998), Grand Prix of the Kinoshok Film Festival (Anapa, Russia, 1999), winner of the Sergey Kuryokhin Prize in the nomination "Art in Public Space" for the Minibus project together with Marina Alekseeva (2011).
