The Arrangements series consists of graphic works with integrated rough metal plates. These oeuvre capture the state between a schematically defined balance of forces and a tangible corporeal gesture. Gan deliberately sets an aggressive vector in order to evoke a strong emotional response from the viewer by leaving the sharp metal edges, that can “cut one’s eye”, unfinished. In this series the artist explores the possibility of aestheticization of traumatic experience.

In the new series, Gan continues to explore the plastic possibilities of the material, but for the first time he works with it so intensively and roughly: he rubs acrylic into the surface of the canvas with the stiff bristles of a brush, removes layers of paint with sandpaper and scratches through colorful layers. The works are imprints of the author's emotional experience and act as literal metaphors for body language. Ghana's artistic techniques directly address the viewer's bodily and tactile experience and contrast their materiality with a continuous stream of digital images that only increase the confusion of the post-Internet era. The works capture the motor dynamics of the body, its internal tension and, in general, the qualities of space in the moment.
