Sergey Denikin specializes in collage, object art, installation, photography, and painting. The foundation of his artistic practice is built upon his continually expanding collection, which includes mica plates, clippings from scientific journals, twigs and herbariums, as well as apparatus for chemical experiments. His works are housed in the collections of esteemed institutions such as the State Russian Museum, the MUDIMA Foundation in Italy, the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications, and the AZ Museum.

For several decades, the artist has dedicated himself to creating a delicate yet hermetic world, where shadows and highlights are as significant as the objects that generate them. Through his meticulously crafted collages, installations, and objects, an extrahuman reality emerges, resonating with the natural rhythms of smooth processes, such as the unfurling of a leaf or the gentle unfolding of an insect’s wings from larval or pupal states. Each of his works serves as a fragment of the ongoing processes within this self-organized laboratory.13:33

Curator Alexander Dashevsky discusses the upcoming exhibition:

Sergei Denikin's expansive installation, which spans both halls of the Marina Gisich Gallery, represents a significant and eagerly anticipated addition to the cultural landscape of St. Petersburg. With two dozen sculptures, a variety of collages, objects, and projections, the exhibition invites viewers to traverse the threshold into another realm, where souls and spirits engage in a serene dance.
